The CoV traffic light remains red in the first week of the semester break. The risk situation is to be classified as very high risk for the whole of Austria and all federal states, the CoV Commission announced today after a circular resolution. There was no actual meeting this week. But there are signals in the direction of a trend reversal. Those provinces where Omicron initially spread most widely show a downward 14-day trend in infection numbers.

Cases are also declining in the majority of Salzburg and Tyrol districts. The third country with an encouraging trend is Vienna.

Vienna continues to test the most
The federal capital now has the best risk figure, but with just under 1,144 it is also still very far from the 100 below, which at least enters the orange zone of high risk. All other countries are even deeper in the red sector of a very high risk of infection. Despite a favorable development, Tyrol still has the worst value with 4,793.

These figures are all the more remarkable because Vienna continues to be the most tested city, which is also why most asymptomatic infections are detected. Thirty-five percent of all CoV cases detected in Vienna belong to this category. The national average is 26 percent, mainly due to Tyrol, where only one percent of infections were classified as asymptomatic.

The number of clarified cases indicates that contact tracing has now been drastically reduced or abandoned almost everywhere. Eight percent is by far the lowest value of the year. Only Vienna still has a satisfactory result with 20 percent.
